The Masked Singer: Competitive pro surfer Bethany Hamilton turned out to be one of the singers on The Masked Singer. After a six-week run on season 12 of the Fox singing competition series, Hamilton was voted off and unmasks tonight in Wednesday’s episode.
The Masked Singer
“I wanted originally to do The Masked Singer just because I thought it would be fun,” Hamilton said, as E! News reported. “I sing to my children every day and thought maybe I’d get better at singing. And it’s also an opportunity to encourage people, and that’s what my life is all about.
Hamilton did seven weeks as the personification of the French dessert, but in an effervescent, anthropomorphic way – Macaron – and was sent to sing a cover of “Call Me Maybe,” by Carly Rae Jepsen. Rita Ora and Jenny McCarthy-Wahlberg nailed her identity, but Ken Jeong went with Gypsy Rose Blanchard and Robin Thicke thought it could be Ariana Madix.
“I loved my costume, but it was also really challenging to move in and dance in – it was super hard,” Hamilton added. “I feel like learning dance moves in a short amount of time is not my forte. I’ve never been a TikTok dancer where you can just pick it up in a few minutes. It was super hard to remember everything, even remembering my lyrics felt hard.”. I mean, I can surf better!
With her departure, Hamilton was one of the celebrity contestants unmasked including Natalie Imbruglia as Bluebell, Laverne Cox as Chess Piece, Andy Richter as Dusty Bunny, Paula Cole as Ship, Marsai Martin as Woodpecker, Yvette Nicole Brown as Showbird, and John Elway as Leaf Sheep.
